Peer consultation is when a group of peer colleagues (e.g., graduate students, departmental faculty, or lab-animal professionals) connect in a safe, confidential space to speak openly about work issues and emotions/reactions that come up from their work. Participants discuss the successes and challenges they face at work, such as struggles with compassion fatigue. An additional benefit of peer consultation is that participants can receive and give support from their colleagues and realize that they are not alone in their experiences.
